Age Connects Wales are proud to be part of Age Alliance Wales (AAW). It was set up in 2003 and is funded by the Welsh Government. It is a powerful alliance of 26 national voluntary organisations committed to working together to develop the legislative, policy and resource frameworks that will improve the lives of older people in Wales.

Collectively AAW member organisations possess extensive service development and service delivery knowledge in a range of policy areas. Most of the organisations act on a strategic, as well as an operational level and many are membership based.

Age Alliance Wales endeavours to advocate for the needs and priorities of older individuals across Wales by engaging with policymakers, strategic planners, and funders. Our mission extends to empowering each member organisation to effectively advance the welfare of older people. Through collaborative efforts, we harness the collective wisdom and expertise within our membership to serve and support the older population, fostering a cooperative environment for the benefit of all.

Our primary goal is to shape policy development, decision-making, and service delivery to effectively address the needs of older individuals in Wales. We foster networking opportunities, facilitate information sharing, and encourage joint learning among our members. Continuously monitoring trends and legislative changes impacting older people in Wales, we actively respond, comment, and advocate on strategies and policies affecting this demographic.

Additionally, we strive to identify and tackle emerging issues pertinent to older people while providing pertinent information to the Welsh Government, Age Alliance Wales members, and other stakeholders. Through collaborative partnerships, we proactively campaign to champion the interests of older people across Wales.

Age Connects Wales are represented on the AAW board by Dean Richards, from Age Connects Neath Port Talbot.
