Age Connects Wales have partnered with LEAP

Age Connects Wales are working in partnership with LEAP to offer their local residents a free service that can help reduce energy usage and bills, whilst keeping you warm and cosy. So how does it work?

LEAP stands for the Local Energy Advice Partnership; they are aiming to support as many people as possible who are at risk of going into fuel poverty. The service is open to all types of households including homeowners, private renters, and social housing tenants. The LEAP network includes 127 local authorities and councils, serving 70% of the UK population.

If you are eligible for the scheme LEAP will book you an appointment with a friendly, qualified adviser who will provide guidance and support specific to your energy efficiency needs. From referral to home visit, to follow-up, the LEAP service also starts with a relaxed and informal call.

LEAP can help reduce energy use and cut your bills in a number of ways: Firstly, they will check your energy bills to ensure you are not paying too much for your energy. They can then provide energy saving measures like energy saving light bulbs and draught excluders which can save the average household £30 on their energy bills a year. You could also be referred for further funded energy efficiency improvements, such as insulation and white goods.

Day-to-day energy efficiency hints and tips or also provided, these can help ensure your heating system is set up to keep you warm and save money. Advice isn’t limited to energy, your adviser can also arrange for a call from a specialist adviser to assist you with benefits, debt, and other money problems.

So, who is eligible for LEAP? You may be eligible if your annual household income less than £31,000, or you in receipt of a selected benefit. There is no age restriction.

Finding out if you are eligible is easy, just complete the contact form and we will arrange a call back.
